Rudder Auditorium is the largest of the three facilities in the Theatre Complex, with a seating capacity of 2,500. The orchestra or lower level seats 1,500 and the balcony seats the remaining 1,000. This room is equipped with two handicapped boxes located in the rear of the orchestra level and one handicapped platform on the ground level entrance of the orchestra section.
The Auditorium is used for a wide variety of events. These include presentations of the MSC's Opera and Performing Arts Society (OPAS) of Broadway touring companies, ballets, symphonies and the like. This facility is also used for conferences, movies, lectures and programs organized by various student groups. Within the last few years, "Les Miserables," the London Philharmonic Symphony, Grigorovich Ballet Company, Gen. Norman Schwartzkoff, Mikhail Gorbachev, Spike Lee and former Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter and George Bush have all appeared on this stage.
Rudder Auditorium has a 60' by 28' proscenium and an orchestra pit (with a hydraulic lift) that can accommodate 40 people. Call 979-845-8903 for more information.
Rudder Exhibit Hall is the site of many different types of functions. The most common uses of this space are receptions and conference or trade show exhibits. Call 979-845-8903 for more information.
Rudder Forum is the smallest facility located in the Theatre Complex. This facility seats 245 people and is used primarily for Aggie Players productions. This space is also used for Honors Program summer conferences, Freudian Slip shows and Texas 4-H Roundup. Call 979-845-8903 for more information.
Rudder Theatre is the most frequently used space in the Theatre Complex. Seating is in 5 sections, each seating 150 people, for a total of 750 seats. The Theatre is used for movies, conferences, lectures, talent shows and student organizations' dance recitals. Some examples of programs in the Theatre are Fade to Black's annual dance recital, the Miss Black & Gold Pageant, Texas 4-H Roundup, "Blue's Clues," "The Magic Schoolbus," Freudian Slip shows and advanced screenings of movies.
